Western Roots at Risk

“Western Roots at Risk” shows how the spread of cheatgrass in sagebrush steppe is impacting ranchers, hunters, and the Eastern Shoshone. I directed, filmed, and edited it in my communications role at the National Audubon Society. When we planned this film, we wanted to use it to show the issue to Western lawmakers from the perspectives of their constituents. To do that, we chose a short duration of four minutes and included a variety of perspectives from three different states. After Audubon’s policy staff shared it with lawmakers, at least one senator requested a meeting with Audubon to discuss cheatgrass.
