The Jamestown Fire Mitigation Project

After the town of Lyons, Colorado narrowly escaped two wildfires, Allan Mueller had had enough. He began organizing his neighbors to mitigate wildfire risk on their properties. But they soon found that they needed professional help. They connected with the St. Vrain Forest Health Partnership, which provided the funding, coordination, and expertise the community needed. Together, they thinned the forest to improve forest health, protect water quality, and create a safer space for firefighters to protect Lyons from the next wildfire. In 2022, the Partnership hired me to create a short film to tell this story to other nearby communities.
